A vitrified bond is a mixture of kaolin, quartz, feldspar and glass. The mixture determines the bond characteristics. Vitrified bonds are resistant to oil and soluble coolant; however, they are fragile and brittle.
With the combination of various types of vitrified bond and raw material e.g. aluminium oxide, silicon carbide and different types of ceramic grain (sol-gel), these types of wheels are used in many high precision grinding applications e.g. cylindrical, thread, internal, crank/camshaft, gear, track, surface, centreless etc. For detailed information on these applications and industries please click on the application tab.
